Ukraine exported $25 billion worth of goods and services to EU in 2019

 

In 2019, exports of Ukrainian goods to EU countries increased by 3% and services – by 7.7%. In total, Ukraine received more than $25 billion for exports of goods and services to EU countries. United States: $20,752 billion for goods and $4,288 billion for services.

In 2019, Ukraine received the largest share of funds for export of goods from the EU countries - 41.5%. The share of services exports to EU countries is 28.1%.

 

"The steady increase in exports of Ukrainian goods to EU markets is a sign of quality. Ukraine is among the three most powerful exporters of agricultural products to EU countries. Our goal is to significantly increase exports to the EU and also to increase exports of  manufactured goods. We are working on the ACAA Agreement with EU at present, it will significantly strengthen Ukrainian positions, "said Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Dmytro Kuleba.

In total, Ukraine's exports of goods and services to other countries stood at US$63.7 billion, which was 11% up against 2018. Over the stated period, Ukraine traded with partners from 235 countries. China was the major buyer of Ukrainian goods. Exports to China in monetary terms grew by 63% from 2018, while goods exports to Russia for this period shrank by 11%. Leaders in the commodity structure of exports from Ukraine in 2019 were:

  • Vegetable products worth US$12.9 billion, accounting for 25.8% of the total amount of exports (in particular, grain exports totaled US$9.6 billion);
  •  Non-precious metals and products made of them (20.5%, US$10.3 billion);
  •  Mineral products (9.7%, US$4.9 billion). 

Ukraine in 2019 also tripled fertilizers exports to other countries, as well as increased shipments of optical instruments and devices (22% up from 2018), vehicles, aircraft, and floating equipment (32% up), as well as pearls and precious or semiprecious stones (44% up). The top export services are related to insurance, transport, and post.
