On July 2, the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna held an online meeting with Elisa Ferreira, EU Commissioner for Cohesion and Reform.
"We welcome the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region and seek to play an active role and contribute to its development. We focus on quite ambitious goals within the existing financial instruments of cross-border cooperation and are striving to expand our participation in EU regional projects," said Olha Stefanishyna.
The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the issue of cross-border cooperation with the EU as a priority in her activities.
"Ukraine is a participant in cross-border cooperation programs available under the European Neighborhood Instrument. Together with our neighbors from the EU, we strive to develop common border areas and to improve models of cooperation and mutual assistance," said Olha Stefanishyna.
Moreover, the Deputy Prime Minister told that Ukraine hopes to take part in the European Week of Regions and Cities due to be held in Brussels this year, October 12.
"This forum is an excellent platform for exchanging experiences, discussing regional policy, presenting the main achievements and practical solutions to the problems that arise and are common to most local governments in Europe," stressed Olha Stefanishyna.
Apart from that, the parties agreed to form proposals for EU projects and initiatives in which Ukraine seeks to participate.
