The Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine emphasized this during a high-level discussion on strengthening the role of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
"The Government's activities have already been built taking into account the Sustainable Development Goals and Ukraine's commitments to European integration, which largely intersect. There are still a number of tasks facing us, and the key to the successful achievement of the Goals is coordination, consistent implementation and monitoring in combination with the budget process," said Olga Stefanishyna during the discussion.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that it is vital to increase the level of political will to ensure the practical achievement of the Goals, fulfillment of the international obligations undertaken by Ukraine by acceding to the relevant UN Resolution.
"Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals is fully in line with our ambitions for European integration and is my priority as Deputy Prime Minister. These views find support of the European Union. We are negotiating Ukraine's accession to the European Green Deal, taking into account the impact of these trends in the EU on the Ukrainian economy," said Olga Stefanishyna.
According to her, the success of achieving the Goals in Ukraine requires joint action of the Government, Parliament, civil society and business. The high-level discussion gathered representatives of the Verkhovna Rada, the Government, the United Nations Development Program, the EU Delegation to Ukraine and experts.
